Caps and gowns

All graduates must wear their ASU gown during the ceremony.

Graduates may wear any of the following headgear:

  • Mortarboard cap and ASU tassel
  • Headgear provided by another ASU graduation ceremony (for example - Fulton Engineering hardhats)
  • Headgear representing your Hispanic heritage

Headgear should not interfere with or obstruct the view of fellow graduates sitting around you.

Graduate School Hoods

Graduate students should wear their regalia and robes during the ASU Hispanic Convocation.

Note: Graduate students are not hooded during the ASU Hispanic Convocation ceremony. Hooding is reserved for Commencement and college convocations.

Hispanic Convocation Sarape Stole

The traditional ASU Hispanic Convocation sarape stole is distributed to graduates at check-in for the ASU Hispanic Convocation.

Tassels

Tassels should be worn on the left side of the mortarboard as students are considered graduated after the university's commencement ceremony.

Grad Fair Information

The ASU Bookstore hosts a Grad Fair for every graduation season where you can get great discounts on your purchases.
